Kapiamba Fabrice, Ph.D., is a chemical and process engineer with interdisciplinary experience across sustainable resource recovery, aerosol science, environmental health, rheology, mineral processing, materials and catalysis.

The story

His early research in Cape Town examined the behavior of highly concentrated emulsions — systems in which flow, interfaces and microscopic structure determine whether a process remains stable. Graduate work in the United States broadened that foundation into environmental engineering, catalysis, mineral processing and sustainable materials.

Fabrice's doctoral research brought those interests together through aerosol science. His University of Miami dissertation investigated electronic-cigarette smoke as a coupled physical, chemical and toxicological system: what particles and gases are emitted, what metals are present and in what oxidation state, how the aerosol may deposit in the respiratory tract, and how operating conditions affect cellular responses.

That approach — characterize the system, understand mechanisms, quantify consequences, and improve the process — now informs his industry-facing work in process engineering and sustainable resource recovery. His career has been built across South Africa and the United States, combining research, teaching, professional service and industry-facing engineering.
